Verdict: Hrithik and Tiger make a powerful duo in this well-directed entertainer.

The buzz for War has been constant ever since the action film starring both Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff was announced. Under the Yash Raj Films banner, it features the two Bollywood icons pitted against each other in a ferocious face-off, promising high octane action in a high stakes plot. Sounds epic, right? Let’s see if the film manages to become the box office blockbuster it is touted to be.Housefull 4 Movie 2019 Bobby Deol, Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon & Riteish Deshmukh

What’s War About:

Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) is an experienced Indian intelligence agent and mentor to his squad, which includes Khalid (Tiger Shroff). Together, they make a powerful team but things seem to change after a mission doesn’t go quite as planned. Kabir seems to have gone rogue and Khalid is put in charge of tracking him down. As the manhunt begins and both mentor and mentee face off against each other, the chase reveals dangerous and shocking secrets.Mogul Movie 2019 Actor Aamir Khan, Sabir mewati, Mouni Roy & Vikram Gokhale

What Works:

Hrithik and Tiger coming together meant that a power-packed and high octane action film was in store. War is exactly that. We couldn’t possibly imagine any other duo pulling off what they offer in this film. Both icons in their own right, their combination is explosive as Bollywood’s Greek god and martial arts master team up to do what they do best. They’re battling in epic action sequences, showing off their chiseled bods, and even busting a smooth move. Most of all, the War duo delivers because they are well directed and brilliantly choreographed in fight sequences, thrilling high-speed chases, and high-stakes stunts. Director Siddharth Anand teamed up with four of the top action directors (Paul Jennings, Franz Spilhaus, SeaYoung Oh and Parvez Shaikh) and it shows. The film’s first half already delivers everything we could ask for and it is only amplified in the second half, eventually culminating with a thrilling one-on-one fight. What’s more, in between all that powerful action, there’s also a sprinkling of humor, an unforgettable dance number with the dance icons themselves, and a few twists along the way.

War is sure to be a winner at the box office because it uses the right ingredients to make it an entertainer – two talented stars at their best, well-executed action, a healthy amount of light-hearted and emotional moments, and a thrilling ending.

What Could’ve Been Better:

We expected Vaani Kapoor to add a flavor of romance in the mix but with her short stint in War, it doesn’t really translate. Although the non-linear timeline of the film adds another element of attraction, it might seem dissociating to some.

Why You Should Watch:

Watch War to witness the union of two of Bollywood’s biggest stars as they treat you two and a half hours of pure entertainment. Whether you’re Team Hrithik or Team Tiger, you’re going to be whistling and applauding.
