Algeria, located in North Africa, is the largest country on the African continent and one of the world’s largest countries by land area. It gained independence from French colonial rule in 1962 and has a rich history and diverse culture influenced by Amazigh, Arab, and French heritage. The country is known for its vast Saharan desert landscapes, including the famous Tassili n’Ajjer and Hoggar Mountains. Algeria’s economy heavily relies on hydrocarbons, particularly oil and natural gas, making it one of the leading energy producers globally. Its political landscape has seen various changes and challenges, and it is currently a presidential republic with Abdelmadjid Tebboune serving as the President as of my last knowledge update in January 2022.
