• Most Indian cities are famous for their historic buildings. Many cities are famous for their attractive buildings. 
• Today I would like to talk about a city famous for its progressive architecture. 

Where it is? and  What it is famous for? 

• Dubai is the most popular city in the United Arab Emirates. 
• Founded as a small fishing village in the 18th century, the city has grown rapidly into an international metropolis in the early 21st century. with a focus on tourism and hospitality. 
• Dubai is a city of skyscrapers. beaches that thrives on sun-seeking tourism and large corporations. 
• The world’s second tallest five-star hotel and the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. 

How you knew this city? 

• Because it is a famous city. everyone knows it. not just me. 
• It’s a dream city where everyone wants to spend their vacation, but few can afford it due to financial problems. 
• Dubai has continued to grow on oil and trade revenues since the 1970s. 
• About the climate: Dubai has a hot climate all year round. Humidity is high during the summer and low at other times. 
• Dubai’s population has grown steadily over the last two centuries, with locals well over a few thousand to two million. 
• Private Health Insurance, Dubai Healthcare is generally of a high standard and there are several private hospitals, including American Hospital Dubai. 

Explain why you think it is very interesting? 

• Because it is a well-known tourist destination. there are many employment opportunities in the tourism, management and hospitality sectors. 
• The city provides first-class services not only to citizens but also to tourists.

• Some are beautiful because of their historical buildings, whereas others are beautiful because of their modern architecture. Some cities are beautiful because they are in the mountain valleys, where as some are beautiful, because of the beautiful and warm smiles of people.

• Here, I would like to talk about Chandigarh, which is also known as ‘The City Beautiful’
• It was designed by the French architect Le Corbusier.
• It is the first planned city of India after independence.
• Chandigarh is the cleanest and the happiest city of India according to two different surveys held in 2010 and 2015.
• It is also the first smoke-free city in the country.

How you knew this city?

• It is a union territory and is also the capital of two states – Punjab and Haryana.
• The Rock Garden in Chandigarh is a masterpiece out of waste material.
• Sukhna lake, is the biggest man-made lake. It is a beautiful place for the people to enjoy with their families.
• The sector 17 market is a shopper’s paradise.
• The Rose Garden is Asia’s largest garden

explain why you think it is very interesting?

• The city has 47 sectors.
• Each sector has residential and commercial zones
• The roads are designed and oriented in such a way that most of the time of the day, they are under shade.
• There are huge parking areas inr the commercial zones so that the Parking problems don’t create a havoc on the main roads.
• The Parking lanes are as broad as the main roads.
• So, you see, while the city was planned in 1952, it is still the most well planned and beautiful cities of India

Being a voracious traveller, I have travelled to many cities. Out of the long list, I have there is one city which I think is very interesting.

Where it is?

The name of the city is Thimpu, it is the capital of Bhutan, and it falls under Asia.

What it is famous for?

This city is famous for its clean and pristine environment. A sizeable number of tourists visit this place to relax under the arms of nature.

How do you know this city?

Being a travel enthusiast, I have this uncanny knack for visiting offbeat locations. While reading from Wikipedia, I gained information regarding Thimpu city. And to gain experience beyond the conventional domain, I have travelled to it umpteen times. 

And explain why you think it is very interesting?

Post industrialisation, most cities have massive infrastructure and uncontrolled pollution. However, Thimpu city is an exception.

Firstly this city doesn’t have much carbon footprint. And the reason for that is the natives of this place treat nature as god. According to them, saving the environment is akin to worship.

Apart from this, the city doesn’t have much hustle and bustle. People prefer to walk on foot rather than moving here and there on vehicles. Due to this reason, people living over have more patience as compared to the natives of other cities I have visited.

Moreover, the eatables available in the restaurants of Thimpu city are not only delicious but also healthy. The locals serve the food to the tourists in a consummate manner. The love and affection I have received from the people of this city are etched in my memories.

Being an avid traveller, I have visited numerous places. However, there is one city which I have found interesting.

Where it is?

It is in the middle east. The name of the city is Dubai, and it is the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

What it is famous for?

Dubai is famous for many things. The first and foremost is shopping. Millions of tourists come here to purchase fashionable clothing, gold, diamond and many other things.

The second famous thing in Dubai is the tallest tower named “Burj Khalifa”.This city has carved out a niche by displaying such a masterpiece. The city authorities have left no stone unturned to provide a world-class experience to the visitors to this tower.

The other major attraction in Dubai is the desert safari. Although I have done many off-roading tours in my life, this one is remarkable. The itinerary consists of many other features, and visitors get an opportunity to taste various mouth-watering delicacies from throughout the world.

I know this city because I have visited it umpteen times. Moreover, being a voracious reader, I have read numerous blogs and websites on it.

And explain why you think it is very interesting?

This city sounds interesting because it is the perfect epitome of perfection. The authorities have constructed a masterpiece in a barren land.

Moreover, the city boasts of its growing infrastructure. Earlier, this city developed due to oil reserves: however, now it is not at the mercy of its petroleum products. The development of this city has blessed it with numerous options to strengthen its economy.

Although I have visited numerous cities in my life, I have found one of them the most interesting.

Where it is?

The city name is Port Blair, and it is the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar islands. It is close to the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.

What it is famous for?

It is famous for numerous things. The most prominent place to see is ‘The Cellar Jail”.When Britishers had ruled India, they used this prison for the freedom fighters. The authorities organise a light and sound show every day to appraise the people about the atrocities done to the prisoners. I had a tear in my eyes after watching the show.

The other famous place in Portblair is Havelock Island, it is popular for Radhanagar beach that is among the top ten beaches in India.

I came to know about this city from the books. Moreover, I visited this place two years back during the summer holidays.

And explain why you think it is very interesting?

This place is interesting because it is different from other places for holidays. Although Portlblair has all the attributes of a good destination for a perfect vacation, it doesn’t have much hustle and bustle.

Moreover, the city has less carbon footprint because the residents focus on maintaining natural beauty. It was a fascination to see that no shopkeeper uses plastic bags. Furthermore, the drainage system of the city is world-class.

Finally, considering all the positives, I staunchly believe that Portbair is the most interesting city I have ever visited.

People go to historical cities to learn/gain knowledge about the past, the way of life of the people in the past, their culture, their roots, and the architecture.

2. Why do people go to modern city
People visit modern cities for various purposes. Some go for work/business reasons, and some for tourism. Those who travel for pleasure to modern cities is to experience a life, where modern technology is incorporated in every aspect of life and to learn and see how people there are using technology in their daily lives. Singapore is a very good example of such a city, where we can not only experience the modern way of life, but also see how they have used modernization to help preserve and enrich the environment.

3. What are the problems caused by maintaining historical city?
The problems that maintenance of a historical city perhaps can cause are related to the funds required for the restoration and upkeep of the city. Another issue could be the pressure on the resources of that city because of tourism.

4.Do you think having too many tourists is a positive thing for historical attractions?
No, I don’t think so. I believe that too many tourists will lead to pollution and also will affect the upkeep of historical sites. Such sites need a lot of care and maintenance and limiting the number of visitors to such sites can help maintain them, prevent damage to such sites, and also sustain tourism.

5. What can we do to stop visitors from damaging historical places?
To prevent the damage to historical places by the visitors to such places many measures can be taken. There should be strict punishments, like high fines for the people who try to cause harm. There should be security personnel employed to ensure that no one tries to damage the historical places and along with that there should be security cameras installed to monitor the activities of the tourists. There can be tourist guides appointed, who also can ensure that no one causes any damage.

6. Do you think too many tourists is a positive thing for historical attractions?
In my opinion having too many tourists has both advantages and disadvantages Advantages:

1. It ensures that our history and culture is passed to the future generation
2. It brings revenue and business for the people of the city where the historical attraction is.
