Introduction 1

Before a few months (you may change this accordingly) I had gone out with two of

my friends for dinner at a popular restaurant in my city. We were meeting after a

long time and we had too much to catch up with each other. We had decided to

reach directly at the dining place. When I reached the other two had already

reached and they were waiting for me.

They were sipping coffee and were already arguing about the flavor and price of

coffee. Their argument was interrupted when I reached the table. We ordered some

pizza and one of my friends whose name was ABC could not finish two slices of his

pizza. The other friend, XYZ got upset with this and asked him not to waste food. So

this was the apple of discord.

ABC said that he was full and he could not eat more. XYZ told him in harsh words

that he should not have ordered coffee if he was not that hungry. According to him

it was not good to throw away food. I was trying to calm them down and suddenly

an idea struck me. We decided to get it packed and feed the street dog outside the

restaurant.

Thankfully, with this idea the heated arguments stopped and we reached an

amicable solution. I felt a sense of relief. I was feeling very disappointed that in spite

of meeting after so many days both of them started quarrelling on a petty issue.

Their fight was spoiling the mood and the dinner. We went out and fed the dog and

then all were okay.

Introduction:2

Well, it is not uncommon to see people arguing when their idea’s and beliefs do not match. It results in debate even on very minor issues.

When it happened?
Let me share one such incident when my friends got into a heated argument that took place when we working on a group assignment.

What it was about?
Actually, when I was in grade 10th and as a part of the film, the assessment we had to work on a group project.

We four friends had to work on a science topic of our choice and complete it in one week time. We had to make a working model to demonstrate write an analytical report and also give a presentation on the given date. Since the work was too much rather than managing and distributing equally two members of our team started arguing with each other.

They were not willing to accept each other’s idea of the choice of topic for the assignment. Both were thinking they are right the other one is wrong. In fact, they started accusing and blaming each other for being part of the same team. Soon the verbal fight turned into a real fight and at this point my other friend and I intervened.

How it was solved?
We stopped them and requested to stop this nonsense as if we are not going to work together we could never complete the work in time. In fact, we rejected the ideas of both of them as they were extremely time-consuming. We sat in the canteen arm ordered cold drinks.

How you felt about it?
Once my friends calmed down we requested them to feel sorry for each other and start focusing on work. Though it did not easily convince them but finally they agreed and we all were happy now.

Conclusion:
Overall, it was the time when my friends got into a fierce argument.

Introduction:3

  • Arguments have become an essential part of our life because they help us to clarify our thoughts.
  • Arguments change people’s points of view or persuade people to a particular action or behaviour.

When it happened?

  • Today I would like to talk about the time when my two friends argued with each other.
  • It happened about three to four years ago during twelfth class.
  • I was a student of the science stream.
  • Every day, our chemistry teacher did the new experiment, and she explained it to us step by step.

What it was about?

  • Two of my friends were very fond of experiments. They were always trying to do experiments in different ways.
  • They used to watch different videos for the same experiments.
  • One day, our teacher decided to do a competition between them.
  • She told them to make soap in a minimum time.
  • The teacher thought they use the same method that she taught to them, but they selected different methods that they watched on the internet.
  • Firstly, they explained their process to the teacher. Both methods were accurate, but they started arguing with each other for their ways because they thought their soap making process was better but was taking less time from one another.
  • They did an argument with each other for fifteen minutes.

How it was solved?

  • The teacher strictly warned them to stopped making arguments, focus on their work and gave proof that their idea is better than each other.
  • Approximately after one hour, both completed their process.
  • The teacher examined their result and declared both were winner because they made soap.

How you felt about it?

  • I was afraid that this argument might affect their friendship, but I felt happy when the teacher declared both of them the winner.

Conclusion:

  • Then they realized that they did the argument for wrong things because one thing could be made through different methods, so without seeing any result, we could not declare that my idea is better than another.

Introduction:4

  • Arguments are a very common part of life.
  • But I think most arguments can still be avoided.

When it happened?

  • Recently, India faced the second coronavirus wave.
  • As the numbers were rising, my friends and I were discussing whether a lockdown should be imposed.

What it was about?

  • One of my friends, Ravi believed that a stringent lockdown was the only solution to bring down the cases.
  • He was very adamant that lockdown should be imposed without any delay.
  • However, one of my other friends, Vishal believed that lockdowns don’t help.
  • He said that lockdowns lead to huge loss to the economy and under no circumstances
  • governments should go for a lockdown or a curfew.
  • At first, it started out in a very calm manner.
  • We were all discussing the issue, but eventually only they were the ones talking and we just sat there listening.
  • They both started with facts and counters.
  • As the argument continued, both of their voices went up.
  • We told them to calm down, but at this point, they were so engrossed that they didn’t listen.
  • Eventually, they came down to personal attacks rather than talking about the need for a lockdown.

How it was solved?

  • Actually later we came to know that Ravi had lost his uncle due to coronavirus and he
  • sincerely believed that he could have been saved if the government had announced a lockdown.
  • Vishal was adamant because his family had suffered huge losses in the last lockdown.
  • They had been both affected by the issue personally and that’s why they were so emotional about it.
  • In the end, we told them that their discussion would not have any impact on the matter
  • so it was a moot point arguing about it.

How you felt about it?

  • But, on that day, I also thought that it would be a very difficult decision for the government to take.

Conclusion:

  • The real end to the argument when the cases rose sharply and eventually the government was forced to impose a lockdown.

Introduction 5

  • Arguments are an integral part of our life.
  • Occasionally they lead to a logical conclusion, and in most cases, they lead to complications.

When did it happen

  • When I passed my 10th standard, I was in a state of confusion regarding which stream to choose for further education.
  • I had two options, the first one was to opt for a non-medical stream, and the second one was commerce.
  • To make a decision, I organized a meeting with a few of my friends.
  • The topic of discussion was what to choose? Science or commerce, for further education.
  • The discussion started on a positive note.
  • However, it had turned ugly when two of my friends started shouting at each other.
  • Their names were Michael and Stephen.
  • Michael had opted for the Science stream.
  •  That’s why he was talking in favour of science.
  • Whereas, Stephen being from a business family was advocating commerce stream.
  • Their shouts were disturbing my ears.

How it got solved?

  • To put an end to the argument, I called my elder brother to join us.
  • When he came, the verbal debate was still going on.
  • My brother diffused the situation by making me participate in an online psychometric test.
  • According to that test, being a creative person, my scope was more in humanities scheme.
  • Finally, I told my friends that I would be opting for the humanities stream for my 11th standard.
  • Finally, the debate ended.

What do you think about it?

  • Although the debate led to stress, it led me to a logical conclusion.
  • Therefore, we must have healthy debates in our lives.

Introduction 6

A healthy discussion between friends is a usual affair. However, sometimes it takes the shape of arguments.

Recently two of my friends had an argument which lasted for a few hours.

When did it happen

Two months back, we had a college reunion. During that time, two of my friends turned emotional while discussing their success.

The first one said that to move our career towards an impressive growth trajectory hard work is a must. According to him by toiling hard with determination, dedication and discipline we could achieve anything in life.

The second friend had a counter opinion. He said that in this contemporary epoch, where fierce competition has become an integral part of our lives, people do not get growth in life just because of hard work. According to him, being lucky is more significant than any other thing to grow in life.

How it got solved?

The argument ended with the intervention of other friends. We all had sat together and concluded that for success in life a combination of hard work and luck works like a charm.

On the one hand, hard work hones your talent, and on the other hand, luck creates opportunities for us.

By doing hard work, we can prepare ourselves to effectively utilize the opportunities presented to us.

After carefully listening to the discussion, both friends expressed solidarity with the view put forth by the group.

And the argument ended.

What do you think about it?

I think arguments help us to find viable solutions to the pressing problems in our lives. Hence healthy debates must be encouraged.

Introduction 7

  • Friendship thrives primarily on good relationships.
  • However, sometimes even friends have altercations.

When did it happen

  • Last year there was a strong argument between two of my friends.
  • During the corona pandemic, my country was in a state of lockdown.
  • Any many of us gained tremendous weight during that period.
  • Because during the lockdown, we didn’t engage in much physical exercise
  • Apart from this, we ate a lot.
  • Hence, to lose weight, we all college friends decided to help each other.
  • Our whole group connected through video conferencing
  • We nominated two guys from our group who were fit to mentor the group.
  • Both of the mentors are my bosom friends.
  • When the mentors started giving us weight-loss tips, both of them argued.
  • The first mentor said weight-loss exercise is more important.
  •  The second mentor countered his view by saying that diet is more significant for maintaining an ideal weight.

How it get solved?

  • To end the ongoing debate, we divided the group into two teams.
  • Team A worked under the supervision of the first mentor, and Team B’s team leader was 2nd mentor.
  • Team A focussed more on exercise, and Team B’s more attention was on having a balanced and nutritious diet.
  • The results were astonishing because all participants lose weight.
  • However, Team B’s performance was better than Team A.There was a paradigm shift in their overall look because all participants experienced significant weight-loss.
  • Hence, the revelation was that diet plays a more important role than a physical workout for losing weight.

What do you think about it?

  • Initially, I had apprehensions regarding the debate between two of my amigos.
  • But later on, I liked it.
  • Because through the medium of that argument, we all friends improved our health.

Introduction 8

Nowadays, arguments have become a common part of our daily life. There are several reasons when people argue with each other. Some arguments quite simple and which we usually do with our family members and friends. However, some are very hard to tackle. Here, I would like to talk about when two of my friends argued with each other. I remember It happened when we normally talked about a topic that people are not satisfied with their job and salary. Suddenly topic change into a debate and my two best friends started a hot debate on big salaries versus job satisfaction. Raman and Gagan are my close friends. Raman said that high remuneration is more significant than contentment at the workplace but Gagan had the opposite viewpoint. Both had their own opinion regarding this issue.

As one was saying having a hefty pay scale helps a person to stay delighted. People can easily fulfill their desires. Conversely, when an individual does not have high remuneration they often feel dissatisfied and distressed which leads to diseases such as depression and heart ailments.

While other was in favor of Job satisfaction plays a very important role in an individual life, when people are happy with their work, they work efficiently and without any force. The atmosphere at the workplace becomes very pleasant, as well as, they achieve their goal with a high success rate since they are in the area of their interest. Both did not agree with each other viewpoints. In fact, they started a strong argument with each other.

But When I told them both factors are important for the survival of humankind. Then they listened to me and understood the matter. So this was an argument between two of my friends.

Introduction 9

Well, arguments have become an important part of our life. It does not matter whether it is between elders, youngsters or children, everyone wants to win the argument. Here I want to talk about a time when my two friends argued with each other. Last month, my two friends and I planned to meet one another after a long time. Then we got together in my home and we started to talk about different topics. In between the talk, my friends named Navdeep and Amrit started to talk about the protest that is going on in Delhi by farmers. Amrit belongs to a farmer family so he favoured the farmer’s protest and their decisions whereas Navdeep was taking the side of the Government decisions. They both gave their own opinions on it after 15 minutes their talk converted into an argument. Amrit thought that this is very good that farmers are protesting against the government’s decisions. Because if farmers do not take any steps now then agriculture business will be more difficult in upcoming times it will be very difficult to purchase pesticides and seeds. Moreover, the price of the daily use products will also increase which will be very difficult to afford for the common man. However, according to Navdeep’s point of view, it is not good for the economy like farmers are just wasting their time they should Agree with the decision of our prime minister. Furthermore, she told that it not only creates violence in society but also lead to numerous accidents that have occurred there. There is no safety and it is a very risky protest. But Amrit continuously was giving her opinions and they both shouted which made the environment more problematic. Then I stopped both and make them understand that this is not a solution we cannot do anything about it. After half an hour they calm down and felt sorry for each other. At that time I felt that government should make decisions for the well being of the citizens because they have the rights to deserve all things which they want.

Follow up Questions

  1. What are some of the common topics that friends argue upon?

Oh, this is really a tough one to decide. Friends can argue on any topic under

the sun. Same is with siblings. But mostly, I guess friends would fight over

which movies to go and which games to play and where to go for a pizza.
